San Diego Ranks Third in Nation for Digital Innovation in Local Government
Last week, the Center for Digital Government announced their ranking for digital innovation based on what cities offered in terms of local government services. San Diego came in at number three in the category of cities with a population higher than 500,000, just behind Los Angeles (first) and Albuquerque (second). The criteria for the list was based upon who was the most innovative by determining which cities were the most “open, mobile, engaged, collaborative, secure, staffed/supported, connected, efficient and resilient.”
According to Times of San Diego, San Diego’s updated Get It Done app, which offers online requests and services for city residents, was a contributing factor.
In regards to San Diego making the top three, Mayor Kevin Faulconer told the Times, “By using technology, San Diego is making our streets and infrastructure better, our neighborhoods safer, and government services more responsive and transparent. This new ranking reflects San Diego’s ongoing commitment to using technology to make our communities better places to live.”
