At its recent Impact Awards Gala, Urban Land Institute (ULI) of North Texas presented the Vision Award and top honors for 2017 real estate projects.

According to the Dallas Morning News, ULI honored retail real estate icon Herb Weitzman with its prestigious Vision award. In addition to celebrating his career that spans more than five decades, ULI recognized Weitzman — executive chairman of the Dallas commercial real estate firm that bears his name — for his community contributions.

ULI presented Impact Awards in four distinct categories, which include Innovation, Next Big Idea, Influence, and Public Place.

The Innovation Award went to Crescent Real Estate for developing the McKinney & Olive high-rise, a 536,000-square-foot office and retail project in Dallas Uptown.

"Crescent's development and design team, led by architect Pelli Clarke Pelli, started McKinney & Olive with a goal of setting a new standard for workplace design in Texas,” Joseph Pitchford, Managing Director of Crescent Real Estate, said in a statement. “Every major decision was measured against that goal."

ULI gave its Next Big Idea Award to Merriman Anderson Architects for designing the redevelopment of the Statler Hotel Corridor in Downtown Dallas, which included the $230 million Statler Hotel renovation and other projects at Commerce and Harwood Streets.

Village of Rowlett mixed-use development earned the City of Rowlett and Catalyst Urban the Influence Award.

And recipients of the ULI Public Places Award were Morrison Dilworth & Walls, Hocker Design Group, and Studio Outside for collaborative design on the Eagle Family Plaza at the Dallas Museum of Art.
