Target to Open First Store in South Beach
Target has signed a lease to open its first store in Miami Beach –- a 33,000-square-foot store in South Beach, per Curbed Miami.
Target will be one tenant in a new project called BLVD at Lenox at the corner of Fifth Street and Lenox Avenue, developed by the Miami Beach-based Comras Company and designed by Miami-based Zysocovich Architects. The four-story building will have 227 parking spaces and 27,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and will be next to another retail venue with tenants such as Publix, Best Buy, Total Wine, and T.J. Maxx.
The “small-format” store is much smaller than a traditional big-box Target, which can be up to 200,000 square feet. “Target has been seeking the ideal location for a small-format store in Miami Beach,” said Target Senior VP of Properties Mark Schindele in a statement. “So we’re thrilled to be part of the BLVD at Lenox shopping complex to conveniently serve residents and tourists with a unique product assortment that only Target can provide.”
Groundbreaking is planned for early 2018 with an expected completion date of spring 2019.
