The Mysterious Rubber Ducks of San Francisco Are Back, This Time in Noe Valley
With everything going on in the world right now, it’s nice to know there is a mysterious person, or persons, roaming San Francisco with a great sense of humor. That person keeps filling up the streets of Noe Valley with rubber ducks.
Hoodline recently reported that one of their readers, “Jean F.,” sent an image of the floating bathtub toys lining 22nd Street as well as gathering near the corner of 22nd and Church Streets.

Twitter user Carrie Kelly referred to it as a “rubber duck mystery” when she posted an image of the ducks near Mona Caron’s 2006 botanical mural and called out to locals for information on the ducks' placement as well as the numbers written beneath each one.
This is the second time the ducks have appeared. At the end of May, a group of ducks popped up near The Castro. They spelled out a single word, “Simon,” which had residents wondering if the message was innocuous or something sinister. Hoodline offered it may be a part of a guerrilla advertising campaign — which would be a success if that was the case, since the ducks caused such atwitter on news sites and social media.
As of yet, no one has claimed responsibility for the ducks. Whether they are part of a brilliant marketing campaign or an admission of love from an admirer, we may never know.
