Hard-working executives know that life needs some opportunities for play, too. That’s why Toyota is building a retreat and racetrack in Denton County for their executives.

Toyota is laying down some roots in North Texas. In addition to the new retreat, the automaker is also developing their new headquarters facility at Plano’s Legacy West.

The land for the retreat spans 75 acres in Denton County. It borders the towns of Argyle and Lantana, extending west to FM 1830.

The retreat center will include a racetrack, Japanese gardens, a private car museum, fishing ponds, barns, guest houses, and horse stables. Construction of several large buildings on the property is currently underway.

Toyota bought the property in 2014, shortly after announcing plans to move their headquarters from Southern California to Plano. According to Denton County, the property is currently valued at $11 million. Toyota officials chose the location of the retreat because of its proximity to both DFW International Airport and the new Plano headquarters.

The property for the new Toyota executive retreat includes a 12,000-square-foot Tudor-style mansion with seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The main building also includes large indoor entertaining areas, a swimming pool, a movie theater, and an extensive wine cellar.

The areas surrounding the new Toyota retreat center are home to many large ranches, farms, and equestrian estates. Lantana, Argyle, and Robson Ranch are three popular areas for rural residential developments.

Toyota is keeping a low profile with the new retreat center. No signs mark its presence and it will not be open to the public. Toyota officials met with local residents before beginning construction.

Almost 5,000 employees will work at the new Plano headquarters at Legacy Drive and State Highway 121. Hundreds of Toyota employees and executives will travel to the area each year.
