With the city of Coral Gables pitching in $15 million, the Underline park project just needs another $15 million to reach the $100 million in total funding it needs to begin construction, per The Real Deal.

The Coral Gables City Commission approved giving $15 million of the impact fees it collects from developers constructing projects in the vicinity of the park, although it will take about five years to collect the total amount.

The Underline is a proposed, 10-mile linear park that will run below Miami’s Metrorail from Brickell to Dadeland. Friends of the Underline, the nonprofit leading efforts to bring the park to life, plans to break ground in about a year by starting construction on the Brickell portion. In Coral Gables, the park will run in front the University of Miami and NP International’s Paseo de la Riviera, which recently secured construction financing.
