Magellan Development Group, one of the developers behind the in-progress Vista Tower, is planning to build hundreds of residential units and hotel rooms on land in the mixed-use development of Lakeshore East, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.   

The developer hopes to build more than 2,000 residential units and up to 1,000 hotel rooms in Chicago’s New East Side. Three towers on the east side of Lakeshore East would house 1,400 residences and 300 hotel rooms. Additional development plans at 195 N. Columbus Drive call for up to 640 residential units and 626 hotel rooms, according to the report.

The firm bKL Architecture will design the new buildings.

Further details on the new development, including renderings, have yet to be released. Magellan Development Group will hold a meeting to discuss the Lakeshore East development plans July 10.
