Situated near North Carolina State University, Cameron Village is a little slice of walking paradise that always has something fun going on. An outdoor, open-air shopping complex of the same name offers a large variety of eateries and shopping alongside grocery stores and pharmacies all placed neatly within the neighborhood for those wanting to hoof it. The homes here are quite lovely but do come in at the higher-end of housing in Raleigh. Snack on biscuits or doughnuts from Rise, sip on a quality cup of joe from Benelux, and walk to and fro with the sound knowledge you’re in a warm, welcoming community.

Nestled in the heart of Raleigh lies Glenwood South, and along with the heart, comes the beats. The music scene in Raleigh continues to grow alongside the arts, and downtown has become a haven for those seeking an alternative night out in a funky, cool venue. Though not walkable in the traditional sense, Five Points is worth a mention. This gorgeous area is filled with large, stately homes and has minimal traffic. This makes it a favorite among residents and local joggers alike, as avoiding vehicles makes for a less-than-serene time outdoors. Detour from downtown for a change of scenery and take an evening stroll here—the area has period homes and new builds alike. Five Points is easy to walk around and explore as you admire some of the most beautiful and innovative homes in Raleigh. It isn’t difficult to see why so many put down roots in this state-of-the-art neighborhood.

Located in North Raleigh, Stonehenge is becoming immensely popular among walkers and homebuyers. Though the homes for sale can be few and far between, that speaks to its immense value due to the quality of the neighborhood and potential for resale one day. This area is kind to walkers, as their sidewalks, outdoor areas, and parks are as quality as they come. Quiet cafes and sweet little local stores open their doors to you as you make your way into and charming area with a calm, laid-back atmosphere. Though you’re not as likely to commute to work by walking here, many other locations are within a stone’s throw, making for a fantastic date night as you meander the side streets on a summer’s night.
