Linkwood

We bought our home in Linkwood 38 years ago and don’t plan to leave anytime soon. We’ve raised 3 adult children here and all attended the local elementary school, Longfellow. I always knew Linkwood was special, but then the arrival of Harvey taught me so much more: we’re a community who helps each other when there’s a need. The folks who didn’t flood showed up to help those who did ... and offered us beds to sleep in because ours were wet. Others came by with food, cleaning supplies, offers to take loads of wet clothing away & washed them, returning them clean & sweet smelling! We’re a neighborhood of dog walkers and people “speak” to each other on the street or wave up at those on the front porch or in the yards... it’s absolutely lovely in our neighborhood. Girl Scounts aren’t afraid to ring doorbells to sell cookies and our local Eagle Scout sold over 30 briskets his troop cooked as a yearly fundraiser... that is until he left for college. Our trees are lovely and we have some of the nicest streets in Houston; the city is just finishing up a project to repair the streets, lay new storm drains and sewer pipes...& they’ve begun putting up new street lights to help us feel a little safer in the dark.
