Around Mundy's Overlook

It may be an old real estate cliche, but “location, location, location” is its own amenity at Mundy’s Overlook. The community is on Fayetteville Road about a 10-minute drive southwest of downtown Jonesboro. It’s a 15-minute drive to I-75, so getting around south Atlanta takes very little time and effort. Clayton County School District serves the area. James Brown Elementary, Mundy’s Mill Middle School, and Mundy’s Mill High School are the closest schools to the community.

The Clayton County Park District and Jonesboro have so much to offer in the way of activities. The park district offers over two dozen programs ranging from indoor soccer for small children to Friday night dances for seniors. Instruction in dance, basketball, tumbling, and taekwondo for youth are popular and offered year-round. There are seven organized youth sports covering baseball, football, basketball, and more. Adults can find multiple classes in fitness. During the summer, the county’s International Park becomes a very popular place in Jonesboro. It’s home to The Beach, a huge water park with multi-story slides, a splash pool for younger kids, and a fishing lake nearby. Tennis players have an immense center with 17 courts and pro instructors. The park is only a 10-minute drive from Mundy’s Overlook. The range of events in the area makes for some great choices. There always seems to be a seasonal or holiday event going on such as a festival, carnival, or concert. The Wild Azalea Festival, Fall Festival, and Shrimpfest are just some of the many examples. Downtown Jonesboro throws an annual street festival featuring live music and great food.
