West Briar Middle School

Awful at best. Move before your child is zoned to this school. Coming from barbara bush elementary this is not the place for you.

Terrible middle school. Barbara Bush is an excellent elementary school so I had high hopes for West Briar. Was sorely disappointed. Students are awful, teachers are terrorized by them, because of the teacher/administrator turnover is VERY high. Do not send your kids here.

I had hoped that GT pre-AP classes would be challenging for my student, but they really only do the standard curriculum, with extra projects. In class, they do STAAR worksheets, and WEEKLY district assessment tests. One of the teachers even told the class that "Sometimes you have to do things you don't like. For example, I never wanted to be a teacher." The deans are friendly, and are happy to meet with parents; however, not much changes. I'm not sure if it is the deans, or the administration responsible for this lack of action. On the upside, the theater and dance programs are excellent. But the best thing I can say about this school is that it's close to my house. If my child isn't accepted into the magnet programs or charter school I applied for, I will likely homeschool rather than send her back here. WBMS is not really suitable for GT kids.

Way better than other schools and better than alief isd. My sister attended to this school and loved it!
