About Uptown

The rapidly changing Uptown area of Fort Worth is becoming an increasingly popular choice for young professionals and singles. This area, just to the north and east of downtown Fort Worth, initially grew with a focus on industrial and light commercial businesses. Although many of the homes here were built several years ago, most of them are getting redeveloped. A number of modern condominium complexes constructed in the past few years cater to professionals with amenities and luxurious living.

Around Uptown

There are basically two options for living in the Uptown area. The first is to join the many singles and young couples who have purchased new townhomes and condos in the southwest corner of the community. These residences are easy walking distance from the vibrant downtown area and Sundance Square. The other option is to purchase one of the older homes in the areas concentrated around the commercial properties and lots. Many DIYers have bought these homes for remodeling and updating, adding a new vitality to the area.

There is limited shopping and dining in the Uptown area, which is mostly focused on serving the employees of the surrounding commercial areas. However, there are dozens of restaurants and many unique boutiques in the downtown area. Residents in the new townhomes are walking distance from their offices and this popular culinary scene.

Uptown is undergoing a metamorphosis from a blue-collar working area to a happening scene with younger professionals and families. This means concrete trucks and sports cars share the neighborhood, with the northeast corner still largely commercial. The Trinity River winds through the neighborhood and separates the various communities and businesses.

The area quiets down in the evenings and weekends as commercial activities cease, and those who live in Uptown find it a peaceful and secluded place for evening jogs and bicycle rides. When it comes to Friday night activities, many residents will head over to Sundance Square. Others will take advantage of the adjacent Interstate-35 to enjoy the many activities throughout the DFW Metroplex, just moments away from superb sports, dining, shopping and cultural opportunities.

On Sundays the Uptown area sees a number of runners and outdoor enthusiasts enjoying the winding roads through the community. It's common to end a walk or jog in the downtown area, enjoying a Sunday brunch in a Sundance Square restaurant or reading the latest news in one of the popular coffee bars. The great location of Uptown makes it convenient to head down to the famous Water Gardens or even bike over to the Stockyards. All in all, Uptown is a great bedroom community that has the advantage of being an active and exciting neighborhood.
