According to the financial management site NerdWallet, eight out of the top 10 Best Places for Young Families in Texas are in what the site considers the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro area.

To derive its rankings, NerdWallet put 239 Texas population centers with a census of at least 10,000 under the microscope where it took an in-depth look at quality of life metrics, including median home values, school quality, and income growth.

When analysts completed their assessment, Murphy ranked as the No. 1, followed closely by Flower Mound and Frisco. Numbers 4 through 10 on the list are New Territory in the Houston area; Wylie; Allen; Forney; Prosper; Cibolo in the San Antonio area; and Royse City.

"If the [Dallas-Fort Worth] region was a state, it would have the ninth largest gross domestic product in the country, in large part due to corporate residents such as Exxon Mobil Corp. (Irving), AT&T Inc. (Dallas), and American Airlines (Fort Worth). This year, Toyota's North American headquarters opened its doors in Plano, too,” the NerdWallet report noted.
