Construction is wrapping up on the redevelopment of a historic West End building into a mixed-use space called Factory Six03. According to the Dallas Business Journal  Plano-based Granite Properties is working to bring a food hall to the development. The food hall will encompass up to 10,000 square feet on the ground floor of the building by mid-November.

The food hall could bring six to seven eateries and bars to Factory Six03. Although Granite plans to complete construction by mid-November, no vendors have signed leases yet. However, the developers expect it to be a popular destination and to attract several innovative clients.

The concept of a food hall is taking off in North Texas. Another food hall is opening at Crockett Row at West 7th in Fort Worth. Melina Cordero, CBRE’s head of retail research in the Americas, told the Dallas Business Journal that food halls represent a new trend in retail developments.

"A big area of growth is food halls and food trucks," Cordero said in a previous interview. "Consumers want variety, and that's where food halls have a major strength. You can go to a food hall seven days a week and have a completely different cuisine every day."

That variety will come in handy for serving the corporate clients also expected to locate in the facility. Insurance company BlueCross Blue Shield of Texas also recently opened a two-story innovation lab in the new Factory Six03 development.
