Dallas was always known as the place to go in the Metroplex when you wanted to shop ‘til you drop. But according to the Dallas Morning News, that is beginning to change as new developments are opening in Fort Worth.

Tanger Outlets Fort Worth recently opened in north Fort Worth. It is located at Texas Highway 114 and I-35 West near the Texas Motor Speedway and Buc-ee’s. The 350,000-square-foot Tanger Outlets Fort Worth facility opened with 70 stores, including Cole Haan, Michael Kors, Vera Bradley, and H&M.

Additional stores will open in coming months, including Kate Spade New York, Vineyard Vines, and a Restoration Hardware Outlet. The only other Restoration Hardware outlet stores in Texas are located in San Marcos and Katy, so it’s expected to be a big draw when it opens in Fort Worth.

The Tanger Outlets mall reflects a growing prominence of retail activity in Fort Worth. The Shops at Clearfork opened in February, just southwest of Downtown Fort Worth.

While the Tanger Outlets mall offers discount prices on popular brands, The Shops at Clearfork appeals to more upscale shoppers. Neiman Marcus moved their Fort Worth store from Ridgmar Mall to the Shops at Clearfork.

Other stores at the Shops at Clearfork include Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Burberry, Tory Burch, and Kendra Scott.

The demand for upscale stores in Fort Worth reflects the growing presence of well-heeled residents who don’t want to drive to Dallas. Other parts of the country may be seeing a decline in retail, but Fort Worth is thriving.
