Yoga is much more than an exercise trend: According to Forbes, 36.7 million Americans practice yoga and spend $16.8 billion on classes, clothing, equipment, and accessories. In Las Vegas, where 51.8 percent of people exercise more than three days a week, yoga is an important part of local life.

Besides practicing at home, the top places to practice yoga are neighborhood-oriented places like parks, gyms, and community centers, according to the Forbes report. Although there are dozens of yoga studios throughout the Valley, they often host special events around town to introduce locals to yoga. These free meetups in parks, shopping malls, and even casinos can be a great place to discover new yoga poses and meet other yogis.

Here are the best Las Vegas neighborhoods to find free yoga classes.

Summerlin

Summerlin may have a suburban vibe, but it also has an active yoga community. Besides the many yoga studios like Jade Lotus Yoga and Yoga Sanctuary, the shopping centers in Summerlin are the best place to find free yoga classes. At Downtown Summerlin, Fitness on the Lawn is a free program offering a mix of yoga, dance, and general fitness courses (from brands and studios like TruFusion, Pure Barre, and Lululemon) every Tuesday evening during the summer. TruFusion also has its own events calendar with a regular free Trauma Recovery Yoga class that accepts donations to support the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund.

Yoga Haven also accepts donations to help trauma victims heal through yoga. Although the location of their events often varies, their events calendar lists several free yoga meetups. Donations are strongly encouraged.

At Red Rock Resort, Silent Savasana offers free poolside yoga that’s one of the most unique exercise experiences in town. Although from the outside, Silent Savasana appears soundless, participants wear headphones that blast high-energy music to guide their yoga practice. Although the event began as a modest meet-up in local parks, nearly 800 people have attended these events in the past. Participants are encouraged to arrive 45 minutes early to grab free parking, a set of headphones, and a spot by the pool. Events also take place in Henderson at Green Valley Ranch Resort and Casino.

Downtown and the Arts District

Both Downtown and the Arts Districthave thriving yoga scenes. Although they’re separate neighborhoods, locals often speak of them in the same breath and studios from both neighborhoods regularly collaborate on community events to bring yogis together. At Symphony Park in front of The Smith Center, Yes Yes Yoga is a community-supported meetup for locals who want to relax and enjoy the scenery with ambient Saturday morning yoga. Co-Operate on Main also hosts occasional yoga classes with suggested donations.

Blue Sky Yoga has a regular calendar of yoga and mediation events that help participants learn breathing techniques and internal healing processes. The classes on the events calendar are always free, but the studio suggests a donation to cover expenses.

At the Westgate Resort, hotel guests and Las Vegas residents can attend poolside yoga every day at 7 a.m. These free classes are great for people of all ages, and the classes include instruction on balance and give participants the chance to hone their yoga poses.

Henderson

In Henderson, Alta Wellness Center hosts weekly free classes available to first-timers. Attendees can choose from classes like Relaxation Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Vinyasa Flow Yoga.

The Strip

On The Strip, Topgolf may be known for its golf range, but the center also offers Yoga With a View. Held every other Sunday, this summer rooftop series is free and open to adults ages 21 and over. The complimentary class allows participants to learn traditional yoga and fitness practices along with $5 mimosas and bloody marys. The first 10 people to arrive to the class receive a free yoga mat.
