Houston has a reputation as a diverse city that welcomes people from all across the country and the world. As such, it should come as no surprise that there is no shortage of good food to be found in the city. If you’re looking for somewhere to spend your Valentine’s Day, here are some restaurant ideas to consider when planning your special date.

Chateau at La Table - Uptown

Located in the Uptown area of Houston, La Table is a French-American restaurant with an upstairs secret: Chateau. Chateau is a restaurant-inside-a-restaurant concept meant specifically for fine dining. Recognized as among the best restaurants in the city by the Houston Press and Houston Chronicle as well a recipient of the Best of Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator, Chateau continues to set a high standard for fine dining. It can also make for quite the romantic Valentine’s Day experience, with its white cloaked tables and windows overlooking the city. A more than satisfying meal for two can be had here for $100.

Brenner’s on the Bayou - Rice Military

Brenner’s on the Bayou lives up to its name. It’s tucked into a cozy corner along Buffalo Bayou, which winds its way through the neighborhood of Rice Military. One of the big draws for Brenner’s is the view it affords. Whether from the outside bar seating or any of the window side tables, the lush forestry of the bayou is on full display for diners. Brunch service is available, though for Valentine’s Day, most people will be turning their eyes toward the dinner menu. Brenner’s doesn’t disappoint, offering fresh oysters for just $12, cuts of filet mignon for $38, and persillade crusted salmon for $35. Between its offerings of salads, soups, steaks, and seafood, Brenner’s has a full array of meal options for Valentine’s Day.

Uchi - Midtown

When it comes to fine dining on Valentine’s Day, Uchi makes for a prime destination. Located on the western edge of Midtown, Uchi offers a contemporary Japanese dining experience. Food can be served outside on the patio, inside at one of the many tables and booths, or by the bar, where guests can witness the restaurant's chefs as they prepare the food. With the priciest meal coming in at $26, Uchi may be among the most affordable restaurants to visit, but that doesn’t mean it lacks in quality. The Hot Rock dish includes Wagyu beef and ponzu, a type of citrus sauce with a distinct, tart taste. Another popular dish is the Aka Taraba, which includes servings of king crab and aka kosho, a spicy, citrus flavoring.
