Located in Liberty Station, Liberty Station NTC Park offers four multi-purpose fields, picnic areas, an outdoor basketball court, two tot lot stations, and three comfort stations. Pet owners can also bring their dogs to the park, as long as they’re on a leash. This park is also great for events like parties, family reunions, sports games, or corporate picnics. However, a permit is required for any event that will host more than 50 people.

Trolley Barn Park - University Heights

Trolley Barn Park is a popular neighborhood park in University Heights that’s known for its annual summer concert series. In addition to lively seasonal events, the park also has an updated playground area tucked safely away from the street as well as places to hang your hammock, if you feel so inclined. Trolley Barn Park also has plenty of open fields for playing sports and games like frisbee, soccer, croquet, and softball. Best of all, the park is within walking distance of an assortment of local restaurants and shops, so if you get hungry after an intense game of frisbee, you’ll be close to some great eateries along Park Boulevard.

Waterfront Park - Little Italy

Located along the harbor and offering views of the water, Little Italy’s Waterfront Park is a place that offers both fun and serenity. This public waterfront space includes standard picnic areas and grassy fields, as well as a children’s play zone and themed garden rooms. The park also features an interactive splash fountain where you’ll see kids (and adults) splash around to cool off on warm days. If you stop by on the right day, there may be an event, such as a farmers market or festival going on.

Located east of Downtown San Diego in the heart of Barrio Logan is Chicano Park. Chicano Park is a national landmark known for its rich culture and history. It’s home to the largest concentration of Chicano murals with more than 80 paintings scattered throughout the park’s playgrounds, picnic areas, and gardens. Chicano Park also hosts festivals and events throughout the year including Chicano Park Day, which is its largest event held in April. Within walking distance you’ll find craft coffee shops, breweries, boutiques, and of course, galleries.

Heritage Park - Old Town

Heritage Park is located in Old Town andoffers a great span of history among its fields and peaceful walking trails. At Heritage Park, you’ll find restored Victorian homes from the 1880s to the 1890s, including an alleged haunted tea room at the Coral Tree Tea House. Although some of the restored homes are not open to the public, locals can appreciate the renovated exteriors of these vintage homes while walking throughout the park. Heritage Park is also home to the Temple Beth Israel, which is the city’s first synagogue. The temple is open to the public and available for weddings, receptions, and other special events.
